As a scale modeler I love hearing news about subjects that connect with my other interests. For example a recent announcement about Airstream Trailers giving their permission to allow a company to product replicas of a model of their famed line up of trailers.
If you’re a Motor Home owner and you’re just starting out you’ll probably want to pay attention to this. Sometimes we learn things by accident which can be a good thing. But often they are things we have learned the hard way that causes us stress and expense. Since we started our journey we haven’t stayed on one site for more that say three to four weeks. Recently we returned to Wisconsin and set up for a lengthy stay and in the course of that period of idleness the chassis batteries drained down to such a level as they were in essence dead.
We are told to be knowledgeable about the height of our rigs when it comes to bridge and tunnel clearances, but that also extends to the extensions from trees.
You probably have seen or are even using some of those inexpensive solar lights to personalize your site. They provide a sense of security when you home or returning home after dark. Many parks and campground don’t want you hanging things on trees, but there are times when those lights staked into the ground just isn’t enough to illuminate what you want seen.
At the time back in the mid 1980’s we really had no knowledge about the RVing lifestyle all we knew is we wanted something better than a tent for camping. We were living in Great Falls, Montana at the time and I was active duty Air Force stationed at Malmstrom AFB. We enjoyed camping next to a creek or stream in the mountains with our two boys. Hiking, exploring, taking in nature, hunting and fishing! What I didn’t like about it was sleeping on the ground or dealing rain soaked tents and gear. With a vacation trip planned and hunting season coming later in the year it was time to go looking for a travel trailer.
