Whalers Rest Thousand Trails

Whalers Rest Thousand Trails in South Beach, Oregon
We visited this park on September 25, 2015, and stayed for 17 day(s).

We stayed at Whalers Rest Thousand Trails because of the park’s proximity to Newport, Oregon. It’s a short drive south of town on Pacific Coast Highway 101.

This park is one of the better Thousand Trails preserves we’ve visited. It’s big rig friendly, has cement slabs to park on, good 50 AMP service, water and sewer. A trail takes you from the campground to where you can cross the highway to the beach.

The only downside to this park is that we couldn’t pull in a Verizon signal, but there is good WiFi at both the family and adult lodges.

If you go, make sure to explore all Newport has to offer: a fisherman’s wharf area, Nye Beach, state parks and lighthouses, to name just a few. It’s a fascinating area.
