Colony Country RV Park

Colony Country RV Park in North Liberty, Iowa
We visited this park on April 17, 2014, and stayed for 10 day(s).

This park was a terrific find and we’d happily go back and/or recommend it to anyone passing near the Iowa City / Cedar Rapids area. Unfortunately, it’s closing on June 1, when the property will be sold and a new assisted living facility built in its place.

We had a full hookup, back-in site, but there are also a few pull through sites, some that are only water and electric, and some primitive. As a small park, all sites are within walking distance of the laundry center – the nicest we’ve ever encountered. We checked out the showers, but didn’t use them – very clean, private, and huge. There’s a playground for the kiddos and a large mowed dog walking / nature trail.

The owner was very nice and helpful. We were expecting a UPS shipment of product to arrive before a weekend show, and when the UPS driver passed by without stopping, she took it upon herself to call the regular route driver and let him know that a stop had been missed.

Across the street to the front of the campground was rural area. Behind it is a creek, then a new subdivision. Everything is connected by a great trail system. The subdivision backs up to a large pond with abundant waterfowl, as well as undeveloped hilly countryside. We saw deer in the distance every evening when we took our walk.

There’s ample shopping and recreational opportunities in the area. We visited the Amana Colonies one afternoon to stroll through art galleries and small shops. My favorite was a huge quilt shop, complete with fabric, patterns, notions, and full size quilts adorning every wall. We also visited a nearby county park that had a great raptor center and miles of hiking trails.
