Hobbies And Interests On The Road: Plane Spotting

My interest in aviation and plane spotting is probably traceable in my DNA. I’m one of those who when they hear an airplane scan the sky to spot it. I can stand outside an airport watching and snapping images of airplanes as they come and go for hours on end. Sit watching the sky for two aircraft high up whose paths might cross each others trying to capture an image of the two as they do. Or the most challenging, capture one passing in front of the moon.

2017 Rolled To A Close

On the road to Osier, CO.

As another year of our RVing journey rolled to a stop, we drove our motorhome some 7500 miles which is the second shortest out of the four plus years we’ve been full timing. This is in part to client obligations that kept us primarily in the central part of the country. That said, we added 20 RV parks that we had never visited before in 9 different states. Along the way we met lots of new friends and were able to reconnect with many we had met previously.

Winds Is It Too Much

Things to consider before driving in high winds.

This time of year as autumn provides us with vivid colors, seasonal winds pick up and remind us that winter is coming. For many of us RVers this is the time of year we begin the journey to our ‘wintering grounds’ and that means we could find ourselves dealing with these seasonal breezes.

A gentle breeze is a wonderful thing while sitting around your RV; it helps to keep you cool and the bugs away. But when it’s more than a breeze, wind is something you need to be keenly aware of, whether your RV is parked or you’re driving it down the road.

This Inexpensive Tool Could Save Your Life

An RV tire pressure tip: An inexpensive, readily available tool keeps your valve stems tight.

Maintaining proper RV tire pressure is crucial to avoiding costly tire repairs/failures and potentially lethal accidents. While many add a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to their RV, this little tool is just as important, whether you have a TPMS or not.

As part of my pre-departure inspection, I check the tire pressure in all twelve tires (six on the coach, two on the dolly and four on the car) before we pull out. The other morning set out to go do some grocery shopping. Right after we left, our Honda’s internal TPMS flagged me as to having a tire with low pressure. Sure enough, after pulling over, it was obviously low. So, I turned around and pulled back into the RV park to air up the tire.
