For some time I have been using a solar spot light to illuminate the area around the entry door, using a bungee loop to secure it to the passenger side rear view mirror. Although this worked well, it didn’t provide light in the right areas when the door was open. At times the motor home was facing a direction that didn’t allow the solar panel enough exposure to the sun.
Pacific Coast Highway 101 runs from southern California to Washington. It’s a very scenic highway, but one that requires the driver's full attention. The road in many places is narrow, windy and hilly. You can expect to negotiate steep grades and sharp curves along most of its length.
To say that Canyonlands National Park in Utah is huge is a massive understatement. It would take days to visit only the highlights. The park covers 337,598 acres and is divided into three separate areas, Island in the Sky, The Maze, and The Needles. On our short visit in September we only had time for the Island in the Sky district, which was the section closest to Moab. With more time and a 4WD vehicle, it would be a blast to explore the rest of the park.

In a sticks and bricks home when the wind blows you may feel a draft and hear it howling past a corner. You'll likely close the windows on the windward side to keep the dust from blowing in and papers from blowing off your desk. But in an RV when the wind blows, you rock side-to-side while your slide toppers flap loudly above your head. You might say it's a moving experience -one to move away from - and we agree if truly foul weather is on the way. Otherwise, some common sense preparation goes a long way. When you're full time RV living, you may as well count on having to endure some high winds and severe weather now and then.
One of my favorite things about our RV lifestyle is that while we travel to truly gorgeous or interesting parts of the country, we can eat tasty, home-cooked meals. It’s fun to eat out on occasion, but by-and-large, we like my cooking and I like to cook. My sticks and bricks kitchen had a 6-quart crock pot, small and large pressure cookers, yogurt maker, and enough pots and pans to cook for a small army. But in an RV, I’ve learned to use kitchen appliances that can do double duty. For instance, our microwave is also our convection oven. In July, I added an Instant Pot® to our arsenal, and oh my, it’s quickly become my favorite way to cook! It takes the place of several appliances.
